Cost of membership:
Cons: This is actually for the Warden location in Scarborough. I bought one of those 3 month web deals in early 2012 and they required that I give a void cheque and they automatically fill in the paperwork for a 1 year membership. I "canceled" my supposed membership (that I didn't want in the first place) before the "30 days" and they still charged my bank account. When trying to get my money back they didn't do it. They also didn't give back the deposit I gave for the entry card which on the deal said I was supposed to also get back. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you want to get screwed with your bank or credit card these people are SHADY with a capital S!

Cost of membership: I was a deal site "deal" and still not worth it
Pros: none really
Cons: unpleasant staff, sauna doesn't heat up, broken lockers, dim lightning
Thoughts: don't go there. I was supposed to get my deposit back and never did. It's hopeless.
The best gym in the city is (and why): Extreme Fitness more or less properly run (equipment etc)

Read the contract carefully before signing since I had wanted to quit my membership after 1 year, they said I had to mail a registered letter to quit! That is ridiculous considering I suggested to write a letter if that's what they want and have it signed and dropped off to them. But, instead they insisted to have registered letter mailed to them since that's in the contract.
It makes me never go back to them or trust them. I wouldn't recommend them. The registered letter cost me about $9

I came in to try their classes on Feb 4th and the sales manager offered a 10 day trial for the whole facility. I had to sign the contract for a year, even though I had 10 days to walk away from it. He also suggested that I pay my last monthís deposit to minimize paper work down the road. I was told that if I decline the membership; this deposit will be reversed on my credit card. On Feb 11th, I made a decision NOT to stay with Venice and requested to have my card credited for the deposit amount. He told me that they donít do that and that instead theyíll pay via cheque week of Feb 15th. Today was my third phone call and the woman at the reception was extremely disrespectful, told me that she will not give me the name of the owner or their accounting contact. All I want to know is when I can pick up my money. They lied to me about reversing the charges directly on my card and now I canít even get a contact who is responsible for payments. Please stay away from this place. It runs more like a mob than a reputable organization.
