Absolutely the worst customer service ever. Seven months ago, I was on the fence about whether or not I wanted to cancel my account. They suggested that I freeze my account instead. So I did; I froze my account for six months. I had completely forgotten about them and moved on to a much better fitness facility. On the seventh month though they charged my credit card. That's when I remembered about System Fitness, went in right away to sign a form cancelling my account, and asked that they refund my money because I have not stepped foot in their gym for seven months nor do I plan on remaining a member. I had to speak with three different employees all who immediately did not ask or care at all what I wanted and immediately resisted to refund my credit card.
Their rational is, "Well you signed that contract stating we would start charging you again on the seventh month." In all three different conversations, this was their main focus, their priority, and their rationale for their entitlement. I explained that I no longer wish to be a member, nor have I used the gym in seven months, so a refund is due. Guys if you feel that holding forms over client's heads is a legitimate excuse for you to completely disregard the client and customer service, then you seriously need to reassess what the purpose these forms are serving in the first place.
The third person, one of the managers, Steve, called. At first, I thought, great, someone wants to try and be helpful and resolve this issue. Instead, he called to try and drive the nail in that, according to System Fitness, I am in the wrong and not entitled to my money back. I explained to him, as well as the previous representatives that I am fully aware and understand the form, regardless I have cancelled my membership, have not used the gym in seven months, and require a refund. His opening line in our conversation being, "Was it not your intent seven months ago to freeze your account?" In a condescending tone I might add. Making his intention clear right away that he was not there to rectify any situation, he was not there to listen openly to the client, he was there to berate, scold, and convince me that I was in the wrong. I immediately sensed his bad attitude and tried to put a full stop to that conversation because it was unnecessary, extremely unprofessional, and was not going to solve anything. He insisted that he had the right to know what my "intention" was because for some reason that had everything to do with whether or not I would get a refund. He went off into a hissy fit because I did not want to argue with him and just wanted, all I ever wanted was to get my rightful money back. This conversation he wanted to have was petty, irrelevant, unprofessional he simply was there to berate and argue.
Finally he agreed to issue me a refund. (I learned from all of this that System Fitness has more right and entitlement to my credit card and money than I do myself.) But begrudgingly agreed, explaining in detail the long drawn out process he would have to go through now in order to process my refund all the terrible work I would be putting him through. (Bad client, BAD!) Again, does this sound like customer service? I said great, thanks, please send me an email confirmation letting me know the refund has been issued. To which he again begrudgingly and reluctantly agreed to because it would take him a lot of work, at least a week or two, to process my refund, so why should he have to go through more trouble of sending me a confirmation email.
And as a side note, just because you devise a "contract" doesn't necessarily make it legal binding, legit, or able to stand up in a court of law. As a good business, you would call your members once the six month freeze has been up, kindly motivate them to come back to the gym and remind them about the charge that will come out of their CC on the seventh month. A good business always politely follows up. People move, travel, or simply forget about things. That does not make it okay then to continue charging their CC. It's like System Fitness didn't even care if I had gone back to the gym or not, as long as my CC was still on file and being billed every month, that's all that mattered.
Again, I URGE YOU TO RUN FROM THIS GYM!!! THEY DO NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU! And I was a member for several years and referred and signed up three friends and my husband.
And if the terrible customer service isn't enough, their equipment is often dirty and broken, there is often over crowding and having to wait to use machines and weights, their change room often has a sink or toilet not running properly, their kinesiologists are NOT knowledgeable or helpful, and their front staff often haven't a clue what to do. And that is nothing compared to the disgusting customer service you will receive.

I read the reviews here before signing up finally. I really didn't experience what the negative reviews were about? The schedule only changesa few times a year I'm told (and many current members of the gym told me that was true) and that they put notices up all around the gym even when they change a single class. It certainly didnt smell and when i asked about the yoga mats the girl told me that I was welcome to use one of theirs or purchase a brand new one available there at the club if i wasn't comfortable with that. seems reasonable to me.
Everyone was really nice. That was my first impression both times I went there.
Pros: for $50 a month it's a whole gym with everything I need. I was paying over $100 a month at the Mayfair and actually used less equipment there.
Cons:it did look like there was construction but it didnt affect my workout so I only noticed because I was looking for it. but then again thats what happens when it s community club and not a coporate chain. You can't have both and i'll take the firstname basis i'm already on with the people there over a perfect greeting area any day.
The other con is that you can't hear the sound on the tvs.
Thoughts: I actually watched the manager walking around the gym floor and picking up paper towels and tidying up the weights. Thats why I prefer these smaller clubs. everyone cares.

Registration area under contrcution for years! Changing the class schedule without giving notice very often.
Thoughts: No ventilation in classroom. Smelly, not acceptable equipment, yoga mats etc..
Simple neighbourhood club. Much too expensive for the service they offer.

The best gym in the city is (and why):
I have always thought of this as my favourite gym thus far; recently there was an admistrative error to my and my friend's detriment. This was promptly dealt with; it required management involvement and I received assistance from many doing everything possible to fix this error.
Nobody is perfect and mistakes are inevitable with any person and business however people and businesses alike can be judged solely on how they fix these mistakes. The staff here have a genuine interest in their club, patrons and reputation, and I would recommend this gym to anybody.

Cost of membership:The cost is fair, I just wish they could get creative with marketing personal training. It would be great to do double or triple training (2 or 3 people at at the same time at a lower cost)to make it more affordable. Many of us would love to work on goals but cannot afford the cost of oneonone personal training.
Pros:I LOVE the classes, especially Jock Yoga and cardio KickBoxing, GREAT teachers!! Micheal De Corte ROCKS!!!
Cons:Renovation work or updates take a long time to get finished. There's always some light fixture not in, grout to be filled, paint jobs not quite done, etc.
Thoughts:Overall I enjoy this gym. The staff and the people who work out are for the most part very friendly, genuine and accommadating.I enjoy the color choices, the view of Woodbine park and that they strive to keep things interesting, uptodate, always trying to improve on things.

Pros:none!
Cons:hate the atmosphere.
Thoughts:The staff was amazing at one point. All familiar faces are gone. The new manager made is nothing like the old manager Darren... Darren and his staff of reasonable aged young ladies, were like friends. These new people are unfriendly and very very young.. For a retired majority club, its a terrible staff.

Pros:
Cons: Young annoying staff, unprofessional atmosphere, felt like I was walking into a high school
Thoughts: I've been going to this gym for years and suddenly I feel like I'm back in high school. I walk in and a 15 year old greets me at the desk between flirting with the trainers and management, then I head upstairs and watch the male trainers flirt and almost sexually harass their clients. I wish this gym would have some grownups in charge, not the goofball they have with his teengirls fawning all over him.

Thoughts:I just went in on Thursday after reading the reviews on this site. I met the manager and he personally showed me around. It's true, this place is so much better than extreme (which I checked out that day too). No one took me into a small office and there was no pressure. Just a nice club. The guy I talked to seemed to really love this gym so I signed up.
It's worth it to have a look around if you live in the area. The people there are really nice

Pros: amazing staff, no attitude from the people working out,
Cons: very busy at 5:30.
Thoughts:The manager is named Adam i think and he is great. If you come in to check out the gym make sure you get his attention because he will make you feel so comfortable and under NO pressure. Adam seems to really get how people feel when they come to look at a gym. He says hi to me every time he sees me and always seems to know everyone's name. I don't know if other people there do sales but I recommend talking to Adam.
The best gym in the city is (and why): This one! Nicest staff ever. Studio 99 in the west end is my second choice btw.

I love this place because there are no pushy sales people. The guy I spoke with was more than happy to explain all of the rates to me and I have found after a year that there were no hidden fees or surprises.
I like that it feels more like a smalltown gym than a corporate place. I like that the staff is all dressed like they are about to work out. It's feels comfortable.

The staff is always pleasant. I'm shocked that anyone would say otherwise because the people go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The place is also very clean, and the windows create a very open and airy environment. Finally, they have a great steam room.

your standard middleofthepack training facility. the staff are great, and the people are friendly. the stretching area doubles as a yoga/whatever studio, so you rarely have a dedicated place for real stretching.
the best steam room in the biz..

No aerobics classes currently on offer. If you don't like yoga or pilates, forget it. Two wonderful mixed aerobics & strength training classes were just cancelled and staff were not very helpful in addressing customers' concerns. Lots of missed opportunities for attracting the Beach area's over 55 crowd, especially for using facilities during weekdays when it's not so busy. Really a shame!

Unfortunately, NO WHERE to stretch studio is used for classes, top floor is cluttered with bikes and spinners, weight area dangerously crowded and surrounded by sweaty grunters having orgasms

My wife and I joined System Fitness a couple of months back and have always had a positive experience. The people are friendly. The gym is normally very clean and smell free. It gets a little busy in the early afterwork hours, but normally is always easy to get the machine you want. Parking is excellent as you can use the large free lot behind the gym.
Unfortunately, my wife and I have now moved and the drive is too far for us to continue to use this great gym. If you are interested in taking over our memberships we will transfer the remaining time at a excellent rate. Please contact me at GymTransfer at google dot com

Despite being under construction for some time (renovations), this is still far better than what's out there as an alternative. The staff are friendly and Darren, the owner, is stellar. He understands how to run a gym and doesn't hard sell expensive personal training as other clubs routinely do.
