Cost of membership:kept pursuing my daughter for personal trainer but I was the one who wanted to join. No professionalism at all.
Pros:lots of prkg and lots of equipment because no one is there!
Cons:dark, filthy, smelly, consultant was only 16 and no experience and could not answer simple questions. Mngr had very bad breath. No cleaning stations or towels etc.
Thoughts:DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! I would never recommend anyone to join. TOTALLY NASTY PLACE AND STAFF!
The best gym in the city is (and why):I signed up right away at GOOD LIFE FITNESS. Extremely clean, knowledgeable, very helpful and friendly. Can't wait to start!

Cost of membership:$38 a month
Pros:Almost None
Cons:Pretty Much everything
Thoughts:And Here We Go .... This Gym is far from being "Premier". I left a Very Good Gym where i paid $18.00 a month to join Premier for $38 a month for all the extra perks Pool, Steam Room, 24 hours, Towel Service and so on. NOW this gym is a waste of time and money. No longer 24hrs no longer even open that late Pool is ALWAYS DIRTY and unusable quite often, Steam Room ALWAYS DIRTY & ALWAYS STINKS & a few times a month every month out of service. NO more towel service. Lockers are dirty and most are broken. Tons of theft in the changeroom but managment dont care. Their Idea of customer service is and this is the truth believe it or not is they moved the Lost and Found from behind front desk to an open, unlocked locker in the changeroom for all to pick through what ever is left behind. The entire club is dirty, staff is rude or dont care (unless you are a personal friend) The Male bathroom attendant is Rude and does a crap job who tells a room full of men in the steam room at peak hour (5:45pm weekday) they must get out for him to clean walls, Heres a clue do it in the slower hours when no one is using it!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE AT PREMIER. I've even complained to managment about how they remove services from the gym every year yet my membership never decreases to match what they take away. Manager said he would be back to address it with me and never came back.Equipment is dirty, weights are hard to find and you WILL NEVER SEE A STAFF MEMBER PUT THEM BACK OR TIDY THE PLACE UP. EVER!!!! Spend 50% of time working out other 50% of time looking for the weights. OWNERS, MANAGMENT, STAFF DONT CARE. Oh and my monthly payment date always changes. beginning of month, middle or end who ever know when they will take it out.PATHETIC

Cost of membership:Have a couples or family membership $600$650
Pros:24hrs
Cons:The equipment more times then not is broken, the showers are terrible very dirty. The weight room weights are very un organized. Free weights are all mismatched. Realize that it is the responsibility of the person using the weights to return them properly, in a perfect word that would work.I never see at any given time someone that works there return any of the dumbbells to the racks. The workout area in general is filthy some of the adjustable benches are falling apart. I just feel the facility could use a face lift to have a better inviting feeling. For the money I pay I expect a far better experience especially considering I have purchased my membership at a cooperate level.:(

Cost of membership: 19.49 biweekly
Pros: Women's only fitness centre option
Cons: I have only visited the Upper Wentworth location and it is absolutely filthy. I only workout in mademoiselle and it is so dungy, has an AWFUL smell of mold which is not safe/healthy. I am curious as to when the last time it has received a health and safety inspection as I cannot imagine how it would pass. I have seen mold in the shower rooms but you don't have to see it to know there is a mold issue. In comparison to the class options at Goodlife where I had a previous membership however didn't renew it because I wanted to try a new facility Premier (which I now regret), the class options at the Upper Wentworth location are sub par. I have gone to at least 4 classes after work and they were cancelled either because the instructor didn't show up or called in. There was one particular occasion when I asked someone working at the front desk why a particular class wasn't taking place and she had no idea where the instructor was. Am I suppose to call the gym everytime before I go to inquire as to whether or not the scheduled class is in fact taking place!?!? How can so many classes not take place when they have very few as it is. Some people join a gym simply to take part in the classes they offer. Talk about being an extremely dissatisfied and dissapointed member. I was looking forward to trying a new facility and perceived Premier as being of the the best when in fact it is one of the worst (sad to say). It is evident this location needs several improvements. Start with the mold and cleanliness issue because this could really cause this facility some issues. Then work out your managerial and staffing kinks ie: hire reliable instructors who will show up and on time for classes. I am BY NO MEANS a complainer but when I dish out a significant amount of money for something, I expect my money's worth and I'm not getting it at this location.
Thoughts: I am very dissapointed and if the cleanliness and class schedule issues do not change I will seriously look into taking these issues up in a more serious manner.

Cost of membership:45
Pros: unlimited day care, good variety of machines
Cons: women's only area is terribly small and dark, daycare is pathetic, staff at daycare are great but the room is tiny kids can't put arms out in room without touching someone!, machines never get cleaned.
Thoughts: upper james much cleaner and brighter, not a good gym to have if you need the day care. Careful what you sign, they like to get you to do extra.
The best gym in the city is (and why): not this one

Cost of membership:Average.
Pros:Location, parking, hours, not busy in evenings.
Cons:Parking lot has burned out lights, Towel service no longer available, telephone in men's locker room removed, both TV's in men's locker room not working, pool was without heat for a long time, many lights in men's sink and shower area out, paint flaking off locker room door, only 2 water fountains in entire gymone not working at all, the other water was warm, upstairs handicapped washroom had only 1 of 4 lights working, strong urine smell. The men's shower area was very dark and the floor is so slippery it is easy to slip and fall. The handicapped shower is broken as it has been for years, only a rubber hose sticks out of the fixture, not a shower head. At cardio area only 1 of 6 TV's were working plus no way to change channel or volume, old tubetype TV's. Several lockers in men's room have had the latches cut during break ins and have not been replaced.
Thoughts:When this place opened (around 2000 to 2002), it advertised itself as upscale with "so many thousands of dollars spent on this wood..." etc. That may have been the case but it appears it has had very poor upkeep since then. I joined in 2005 and even then it had lost it's edge. It was an OK gym with OK cleanliness in 2005. My last visit (Oct 2010) found it had deteriorated a LOT (see comments above based on my Sept. and Oct. 2010 visits). It seems not enough investment in maintenance, let alone any new equipment.
The best gym in the city is (and why): Can't comment as have not checked out the rest. With new YMCA on the Hamilton mountain, that would be worth a look.

I really like going to the Upper Wentworth Premier Fitness, it is always clean, everyone is polite and smiling, they are always happy to help out if you ask any questions. The physio department, and personal trainers are great. They all have helped me so much with everything I needed for my fitness and my health.

Dirty Gym, Hand sanitizer is always empty (I don't think its ever been refilled, machines are never wiped down (because they don't provide anything to do so with), the water in the pool is cloudy and dirty looking (I wouldn't go in if they payed me)

Greeting staff say "Hi" but never smile like they don't want to be there. Male Showers and Steam room are very very dirty and need a good bleaching and scrubbing. Never enough paper towels in the changeroom. Overall I was disappointed with staff, lots of attitude..general manager never smiles or says hello.

My biggest concern is the cleanliness of the facility. The hand sanitizer is always empty, no one sprays down their machines, there is gum stuck on many of the cardio machines in the women's only section. The washrooms appear clean, however there is never enough soap and you have to wonder how often the steam room and pool are cleaned. The gym has a number of machines and I've never waited for anything however the cleanliness is an absolute concern.

Staff rude and unfriendly, equipment new, but takes often breaks down and takes a long time for repairs, airconditioning broke down several times during the summer
Reviewer: Thaddeus Awotunde
They are thieving degenerates.
Reviewer:
need to update cardio machines and improve lighting.
Reviewer:
Cardio equipment is getting very, very tired and some of it has "out of order" signs on it for weeks with no sign of repair in progress. Water fountains are lacking, and concierge staff could be more pleasant.
