I have a huge issue with the customer service of the staff members at this facility. I did a simple 2 week personal study on how I am greeted. Upon walking in and walking out I made a point to try to engage the staff with a greeting of hello and goodbye. They did not make eye contact with me once. Perhaps these girls a little too young to understand the value of professionalism in the workplace. The first and foremost impression for a customer is how they are made to feel when they walk into any establishment. Rule #1. They must make eye contact & smile #2 greeting (good morning, or good afternoon etc) #3 Enjoy your time here toda7. This is a very simple task. Every single time I approach the desk to have my card signed or ask a question. I feel as though I am disturbing these girls working the counter. I feel like saying "sorry to interrupt your personal conversations regarding what you did last night and I feel really bad to make you do your job but could I get a towel? There is zero acknowledgement that I am standing there. They will forcefully do whatever they are being asked to do, all the while continuing talking to each other, not making eye contact and mumbling what I think is you're welcome, when I say thank you for whatever it is that I have asked for. This is unacceptable. I am a owner of a business myself. If I were to witness this with my employees, they would be fired. They are representing a business, they are the face of your company. That behavior will help determine if a customer wants to come back to an establishment. I think I will try my luck at a local competitor.

Julio, I 'm sorry about that but I have to because I'm fed up with your service, you are nominated as the worst customer service reps at Goodlife for the 2nd time.
I always think about the time spending in this branch is one of these most relaxing moments during the week, I could sweat and stretch out my muscle after stressful workdays and bring the most pleasure feeling and fresh body home. Since Last October, I have kept my workout routine on every Sunday afternoon. 30 minutes treadmills and 50 repeats in ab crunch and 100 calorie burning in the cycling machine workout. Definitely I was so tire and exhausted after these training routines. And 30 minutes massage chair is always my best choice for relaxation before I go to sauna room and take a hot shower.
Last Sunday, I was lying down at the massage chair as usual after a intense exercise. I tried to stretch out my muscles and enjoyed the most relaxing time with eye closing for a while. "hey, how long you sitting here" a abrupt question in a rising tone addressing directly to me without any name and title. I felt offensive and I realized my inner peace had been disturbed. "fifteen minutes" I replied. "fifty ?" he questioned me again. And I exaggerated my voice "one five" . "you only have 5 minutes left. Every member can use the massage chair for 20 minutes". I was confused this new regulation and I knew I was too tired to control my emotion. " Why me ? this guy over there is longer than me, why is me ? " (there are 3 chairs: I was at the left; the middle one was out of order; the another gentle man using the chair at the right). At the moment, there was another man walking closely and his right hand pointing toward me and this man kept yelling:" answer his question , answer his question." I didn't know what question I need to answer either I didn't know who this man is. This man probably is his friend or the person who initialized this complaint but I'm not really sure. The only one I can certain is when I decided to leave the chair, they smiled to each other. I was too tired to argue with them either to explain anything. I was extremely pissed and I dint want to talk with them anymore. The only feeling at that moment signaled my brain and it was telling me: leaving here as soon as possible. I stood up and expressed "take it if you want it." And the most ridiculous thing was they not gonna let it stop and keep question me "Why you get mad" "why you get mad" he repeated it for twice. Such a jerk, his service just ruined my peaceful and beautiful day. I was so annoyed and disappointed and all the words he said stands on his friend's side. He is rude and lack of empathy. He gave me a lecture and hard time just for that.

His rude manner is not the only reason I gave my complaint of him but also include the following 3 reasons:
1;Not acting in the customer best interest. I remembered it is him that assists me to set up my goodlife member account. I was confused when I filled up the payment form. Because I forgot my branch transit number so that I decided to set up my account tomorrow. And then he want to get his commission and he notified of he could helped me and let me show him my online bank account. Three month later, it proved he made a mistake. He linked directly from my savings account instead of the chequing account to make sure enough money it can collect from me, as a result of which my bank charged me 6 additional transactions fee.
2;Not Greet a customer He never offer any word of greeting and he seems like to ignore my existence when I was entering. His performance less likely be in consistent with the same level of the overall staffs' service. Especially when every goodlife staffs perform well in the greeting and all give you a polite and friendly welcome, the deviant (Julio) in the team will be found obviously and his poor service seems to be more awkward and impolite.
3;Not dress professionally At Least, he was not in his staff dress in last Sunday.

The previous reviewer and me may not the only two being dissatisfied with Julio. However, I wish I'm the last customer to suffer his poor service.

Have to say the service at the Goodlife Fitness at Steeles/Woodbine is really quite bad compared to other facilities I've been to (Markville Mall, Markham Rd/McNicol). Well, at least my experience with one of their customer service reps was quite bad. I'm home visiting family for the holidays and thought I'd work off some of the holiday pounds. Since I don't live in the area, I'm obviously not going to buy a membership. But the previous 2 gyms I went to were quite understanding of the situation, and said it was quite common. And they suggested the 14 for 14 program (14 day trial for $14). So I thought I would try out a couple locations to see which facility I liked most. The first 2 I tried offered a day pass to try out. That is until I went to the Steeles/Woodbine location. When I filled out the paper work, and put down my US mobile number, the guy (his name was Julio I believe, you don't want to deal with this jerk) looking at the number and not recognizing the area code, asked "where's this number?" So I explained that I'm just home for couple weeks visiting my parents and was looking for a gym while I'm home and wanted to do the 14 for 14. He refused to let me sign up for it. I said, well what if I put down my sister's local number and address. He said, "Sorry. This is for people that live in Toronto only." Well, no where is that stated in the terms of the 14 for 14 trial offer. And when I said the other locations I visited allowed me to try out their facility and sign up for the 14 for 14, he said "sorry, not here." Seeing that this guy was not going to let me workout there, even if I paid for the 14 for 14, presumably because he knew he wasn't going to convert me to a membership and get his commission, he didn't want to waste anymore time with me. So I decided to leave. Annoyed, I said, "Well ok then. Thanks." And started to leave, and grabbed the half filled out paper work, not wanting them to have my personal info, especially since they're not even going to let me use their facility. So this jerk says "Sorry, that's Goodlife property, you can't take it." WTF?! The hell I can't take it. It's my info on that and you're not even letting me use your facility. I'm not going to let you keep my personal info. Already pissed, I grabbed my paperwork from his hand and left. Pretty sure if I had made a fuss to see his manager, I would have gotten my 14 for 14 trial, seeing as other locations were nice enough to offer it. But I decided to just leave because this guy was being a total dick, I didn't even want to workout there anymore. And I decided not to waste anymore energy to try to go above this guy's head and get him in trouble for his 'excellent' customer service skills. But having experienced EXCELLENT service at the Markville Mall AND Markham Rd/McNicol locations, then getting terrible service at Steeles/Woodbine, from Julio, I felt compelled to share my poor experience, with this particular rep. I'm sure other folks at that location are nice. Unfortunately, my experience with Julio soured my experience at this location. So if you do decide to go to this facility, make sure it's not Julio that is taking care of you.

I happend to hurt myself the first time workingout. That and the massage chair I was told also contributed to my injury.I messed up my back pretty bad. It was said that I could have the first month that I missed not refunded but n/c as per my contract.I realized that this was at the disrection of management, but I feel overlooked on this matter and I hate having to chase down the manager, as he has better things to do. This has been a hassle. Plus the $400.00 I've paid out to Phsyio and massage therapist's. The problem is that I would like to know how to get a lower payment plan (like my roommate has)when I already pay the lowest(so I thought) and if I cannot get out of this contract, then can I at least get that 1 month free still as promised.Checking my bank I see that the withdrawal was still made. I know that new management has taken over and my issue isnt the biggest one out there, but once in a while isnt it nice to know in this hetic life that the little guy doesnt get overlooked??
Let me know your thoughts please. Leif Drummond (the back is healing and I will be returning to goodlife soon to enjoy working out)
