This gym sucked! The owner was a complete flake. Nothing ever got maintained or done. Moving to the new facility killed it. It was old, rotten, with rat feces in the change rooms. Unbelievable that some of you are getting collections letters after that little weasel closed the place down without telling ANYONE.

Thats not true. I checked with equifax canada and trans union. my credit has not been affected by frogs or the collection agency. if frogs closed down what is there to get??? "J" are you a lawyer looking for business????

I too received a Collections letter even though I cancelled my membership long time ago. Even if we successfully stave off the collection, our credit has still been tainted. I would like to consider a classaction lawyer (who works on contingency) to look at putting a case together.
let's start putting together a mailing list to see if we can get enough backing.

If that message was truly from Collectcents Inc. then we should all expect to see letters in the mail confirming that the accounts have been returned to Collectcents Inc's (former) client as presumably not every person who received the letters over the past few weeks knows about this website and so may be at home stressing out about this. Also, to prove your sincerity you should also be sending communication to the "Ontario Society of Collection Agencies" warning them about this unscrupulous client so that he can't shop the accounts around to other unsuspecting agencies effectively risking their reputations to the degree you risked yours by taking on this account.

We have had a long relationship with Frog's and while we have not encountered this situation with their business in the past, we feel that the seriousness of this matter was enough to force the termination of our relationship. The accounts in question have been removed from our collection portfolio and are currently in the possession of Frog's Gym Inc. Any inconvenience this matter has caused was completely unintentional.

In addition to the legal advice I got, I noticed that on the Credit Bureau of Canada Collections website they provide the email address for their Ombudsman. An Ombudsman is the person responsible for handling any compliants the public might have against the agency. Anyone who feels they were unfairly targeted by Frog's should email Steve Miller at smiller@collectcents.com. They also have the VP, National Accounts Peter Cuypers email address pcuypers@collectcents.com. Given his job title I suspect that he is incharge of all client accounts, including Frogs. We should all email him too with our concerns regarding Frogs (they need to know that there client is somewhat questionable based on factual things like the fact that up to this time last year, Frogs had an 'F' rating from the Better Business Bureau for unfair business practices with the public). Be nice and professional, with these guys however. They respond more favorably when you don't flip out. Keep the explanations to a minimum, however. Stick to the fact that you dispute the claim and that you demand to see any supporting documentation from the gym owner and intend on settling this in court if need be.

If any one out there got the same collection letter I did yesterday DONT PAY IT! Call CREDIT BUREAU FO CANADA COLLECTIONS at 18002658964 ext 326 you will reach Rhonda Nicholson. She is a supervisor there. She informed me all accounts have been sent back to the FROG GYM! She said my account was closed and no longer in collections. She also said she came in Tuesday morning to over 50 messages and has taken nothing but dozens and dozens of calls from upset people like me all week! We were victoms! I wonder if I should report this to the police at this point but I guess if the case is closed theres not point..? Anyway I just wanted to take the time to post this so if anyone elce gets this type of collection letter and gets upset as I did and comes on this site reading this info will immediatly put their mind at ease. I too got a collection letter in the mail today :(
How is this even possible! I quit the gym over a year ago. Called up to ask how. The girl said I just had to make 2 payments and come sign that I was quitting. I did go in make the necessary payment required and was told I was out of my contract and they didnt take any more payments out of my bank account after that, so I assumed all was taken care of. I would think if they though I still owed them they would have continued to try to take payments..no? 6 months later the location closed. I had heard they only relocated..but either way didnt matter to me since I was no longer a member. That was about 6 months ago..so my question is..in this past year how is it if they even thought I owed them any money no one for the gym ever tried to contact me to give me the chance to clear up that fact that I did pay out and quit last summer? No calls.. no letters..no nothing.. then I find out I have been sent to Collections? Something is seriously wrong with this picture people! I will be reporting with the police as another person suggested. This if flat out fraud. Strength in numbers folks! The only got me for $175 that I DONT owe them. But its the principal! No one should get away with being able to ruin your credit :(

I cancelled my membership back in 2008, requested proof of cancellation from the girl at the desk. she said she couldn't find the slips and would mail it out later. which she never did. the new owner claims a year later that he'll send it out but never did either. next thing i get is an $1,800 letter. I filed a fraud report with the police. i'd encourage anyone else subject to these collection agency letters to do the same.

BTW the monthly fee on my contract was $25 + the GST at that time. I'm sure that Luigi guy upsold some people so probably these monthly fees varied from member to member. Too bad there's no zeros on these reviews...Frog's does not deserve even one star

Word of advice for anyone looking to join a gym....stay the hell away from this Frog's crap. I have been a member for 6 years and always paid my stuff to them, but as a longtime customer I was not expecting a letter from collections. I would not recommend Frog's to anyone!!!!!!!!!

Frogs downsized their facility and moved to a smaller location. It seems that they submitted their contracts to collections regardless of substance in order recoup money. I feel bad that the owners couldn't make it work, but this practice is irresponsible and hurts the credit ratings industry.

WTF a collection letter for $831.25 ?? this is total bullshit and ridiculous .... I signed up for the gym last year april.. and paid for the three month fee and afterwards.. cancelled it.. but wtf.. ? does anyone have any idea on how much the monthly fee used to be?

Collection Letters? Thats pretty serious. I've been going to this gym for 2 years now and never had a problem with payments. Maybe the reason your receiving these letters are due to not paying your membership on time or you have no money in your account and just making excuses. I've seen the front desk tell members that there account went NSF and the member just lie about it. Members here just want a free membership and are too cheap to pay $ 25 a month. Maybe you deserve a letter from collections because your the one making excuses.

I Too just received a collection letter regarding payment for $500! This is a huge scam! I have not been there for 2 years and did not get a phone call or a letter from them until now. On our contract we had the previous manager write a note that we are allow to cancel anytime. They had the nerve to say that its under new management and that the previous owner should not have written that on the contract. Then the receptionist said to us that they will look into this. BS! We should SUE!

Franco, thanks for informing us that Frog's is closed. There's no sign, nothing at the gym. I own the vending machine that was at the gym, I went there this week to service it only to find out it was closed. If anybody knows where I can find Dave the owner I'll appreciate it. Has anyone seen Anytime Fitness??? This place is amazing. Its a smaller club, with brand new equipment, and open 24 hours. The rates are good. and i just signed up. i was a member at frogs, but i went to anytime fitness. they have a promo where you get the summer free. its very clean and the staff is friendly and not pushy. worth checking out! plus you can use any other location

Frog's is closed. They auctioned off EVERYTHING they owned on the 22nd of May. I just checked out Fitness Connection and it's actually a really good gym. I was surprised because I hadn't really heard much about it before. I was also plesently surprised at how nonpushy the sales guy was. I think his name was Matt, or Mike or something. He just showed me around, made sure I understood everything and didn't pressure me at all. Check it out. I ended up signing up there because they are doing a promotion for people coming from Frog's.

Just an fyi to everyone....FROGS will be closing. If you google "97 Newkirk auction" you will see multiple hits showing FROGS is auctioning all their equipment this Sat (May 22, 2010). That is why there is no signs saying when the gym is reopening and why you see no construction happening and why no one picks up their phone. FROGS is done as a gym. Time to choose another gym..Fitness Connection is just around the corner and Wynn is down the street from the old locations...pay them a visit...you will be amazed....I been at FROGS so long I almost forgot how clean a gym should be. I choose Fitness Connection...good price, excellent equipment, ample space, and very clean.
I feel sorry for the FROGS owner, but the writing was on the wall as to when he will close ever since he moved locations...I would find myself working out alone on most nights. Anyway, try one of the other gyms and get back to your workouts!

Just an fyi to everyone....FROGS will be closing. If you google "97 Newkirk auction" you will see multiple hits showing FROGS is auctioning all their equipment this Sat (May 22, 2010). That is why there is no signs saying when the gym is reopening and why you see no construction happening and why no one picks up their phone. FROGS is done as a gym. Time to choose another gym..Fitness Connection is just around the corner and Wynn is down the street from the old locations...pay them a visit...you will be amazed....I been at FROGS so long I almost forgot how clean a gym should be. I choose Fitness Connection...good price, excellent equipment, ample space, and very clean.
I feel sorry for the FROGS owner, but the writing was on the wall as to when he will close ever since he moved locations...I would find myself working out alone on most nights. Anyway, try one of the other gyms and get back to your workouts!

Right now there is a sign that says that the gym is under construction but yet, there are no trucks or whatever in the parking lot. What is up??? This is the second time that this has happened with no forewarning!!! I want all the extra time during the closure added to my membership which is only fair.
Also, update the location information on their websites!! I try to call their number and no one picks up and their is no voice mail to even leave a message!! Is that even legal??? I will definitely put a validated complaint with the BBB.

The reason Frogs has lasted so many years is because they have the best equipment and tons of it. The club was designed by pros that knew what they were doing. They just opened up a new wing of the building so the place is much bigger now. They have the best prices by far and tons of parking and it's not crowded. Frogs will always be the best place to gain some muscle or lose weight and everyone there is really cool. The snooker table is a nice addition, it's relaxing after a workout.

A lot of thought went into this new location... mainly for women since it has private areas for women. I like the professional look and if they do a little more decorating, it will be beautiful. At only $25.00 per month, it's the best deal going. I've been to a lot of clubs but Frogs has equipment that no other club has, so it makes for an interesting workout. A lot of new female members have joined so I'm making a few new friends too. The staff is excellent and very professional, not like other clubs.

The new location at 97 Newkirk (just north of the Go Train) is 1000 times more professional looking. My workouts are better and more private so I can concentrate and it doesn't have a leaking roof. It's now a better place to go and with better members as well.

You'll never find a better gym for the price. Frogs has excellent equipment and no rubber dumbells and the new building is brilliant. I like the few private rooms idea and maybe other gyms should do this also. I had a game of snooker the other night and it was really relaxing. They have the right idea for sure.

The new place is excellent. I like the private rooms and there's all new lighting. I get peace without the men staring all the time and the owner is very nice. Every piece of equipment works perfectly and they still have the best prices anywhere.

Imagine an office with lots of rooms and hallways packed with the old gym machines. The ceiling is low and there is no air. The place is dark and makes you want to leave asap. The owner is delusional and firmly believes that everyone loves it that way. Currently considering Snap or Connections.

Nice new facility and really clean. It needs a little decorating but they just moved in. Everyone there is really nice and many new members have joined. I like the private ladies areas where I can finally get in a good workout and concentrate without distraction. Very smart idea. It will be interesting to see what else they do.

The new location is nice. The owner promised huge changes but I didn't expect them to move. They have a professional 6x12 snooker table that's beautiful and it's free for the members, plus all the equipment and they've only begun. The new place is super clean and just north of the GO Train. For the price, it's now better than ever with tons of potential. The owner gave me a tour tonight and I now see his vision of what a real club should be. It will be interesting to see what he does with this place because nobody will be able to copy it. Brilliant!

Apparently the 15 movers were completely destroyed after 30 hours of moving everything so it's taking a few more days to get setup but the place is really great and they're doing things that no club has ever done before. Frogs has always been the best gym with equipment that no other club has but now it's going to be much better and it's close to the GO Train which makes it even easier for me.

This is a nice club to workout at. They have all the equipment you could wish for and more and I've never had a problem in the 5 years I've been going. Over the past year, they've made it better and cleaner with better staff and even gave me a lower monthly price. They were the first place to really battle the H1N1 by sanitizing everything every few days and offering sanitizer and hand wipes for the equipment, so nobody can knock this club because they've done everything right which includes getting rid of a few dummies. You don't need a fashion show to get in shape, just a good place to workout.

I started working out here about 3 days ago. I can honestly say these are some of the nicest people ever. I signed up with Sabrina, WHAT A GIRL!! She told me where the Glory holes were in the bathrooms. From there, she gave me a body fat test. I have never had anyone put me at ease orally as she did. I think my penis was even surprised. The prices are so low it's almost free and they really care about how people feel so I'm happy to pay the small fee per month to people that are worthy of it. For sure the people that are complaining are the ones that owe money because nobody ever has a problem if they keep on top of their membership. This place has changed a lot over the past several months and it's now a great place to workout. The prices are the lowest anywhere and the people are really nice, especially the staff. This club isn't busy like the others and they have more equipment than most clubs with many upgrades coming. Best deal in Richmond Hill for sure.

I am writing this review after stumbling upon this site. I will say first off the bat, that I was a member of Wynn fitness down the street. Although that place was okay, it was so incredibly busy at all hours of the day that I was constantly waiting for machines and I grew tired of all the nonsense surrounding it. I went to Frogs gym. They are so friendly and nice. They're memberships are so easy to understand. I love how the gym is not busy and you can just have time to yourself to work out. My girlfriend loves the ladies area, they're spiral stair case is really cool. They recently repainted the men's changeroom, and I got talking to the 2 owners...apparently they're putting in some new stuff and redoing stuff and everyone is excited. These owners are real neat freaks. There is hand sanitizer constantly available in both changerooms and the front desk. They have environmentally friendly cleaing products, and if you don't trust those, they have lisol whips everywhere. My gf loves using the women's section that's completely sealed off, she feels very comfortable there. Plus...the price here is the best ever. It is so dirt cheap! You can not go wrong with this gym!

Would you complain if you got double billed or billed ever if you still cancelled? Additionally, please acknowledge the fact that Frog’s gym does not have the cleanest or newest equipment. Your comment means nothing because I can admit the prices are good ...but what new equipment have they installed? I have been there since the original owner sold it and everything is the same excluding the fact that they added hand sanitization. Lastly, entertainment is disappointing. Although they have satellite they choose to watch news channels from Victoria BC & I don’t understand why they think a consumer would want to watch this? For some reason the staff can’t even work the remote control even upon a request. For sure these bad comments are from exmembers that the owner kicked out for not paying and now they're trying to cause trouble. They're the first club to battle H1N1 headon and to communicate with the members about what they're doing. Well done !

I've been here for 2 years and the equipment has never fallen apart. This club has equipment that no other club has and the people are very nice. There were a few bad ones that were kicked out by the owner months ago for not paying and being rude. This is best deal going and it's not over crowded and all the equipment is just fine. They're doing a great job at keeping the place clean. Maybe these people are angry that they're not allowed back in so they're trying to give the place a bad name !

Very good place to change your identity. At least 3 times I saw weights detached from the dumbbells and fell on the people. Imagine bench pressing 80s and weights land on your pretty face. The cable machine pulleys would be changed only in case when somebody will hang him/herself on it.Hmmm,I've been always wonder what is the green liquid in the cleaning bottles? Mucus? My favorite part is the showers. If you drop your soap the day is done, you wont be able to lift it without touching the wall with your bare ass, ewww. How nice it was to help the janitor? why should an old guy work? Simply fired him.Cool, let the front desk people clean the toilets.

They have the lowest prices and no fees so whoever is complaining should get a life and also pay for their membership. They have excellent equipment with brand new upholstery, new lighting and it's very clean now (huge difference from last year). It's the best deal in Richmond Hill for sure. This club also has a higher rating than all the others and has been there forever. There are always people that like to say bad things when they can't afford to pay the small fee for a good facility.

The facility is great, with an open concept and plastic buckets for the waterfalls to drain into. The amazing heat in the summer and the torn screens invite wildlife to make the tropical rainforest theme complete. I have been a member for 2 years .I really like the gym and have never had issues with owner ,staff , equipment ,payments ,etc.Hours are great .My only concern is that it has been TOO quiet lately(past 23 months) .I dont see any of the 'regulars' any more and i am concerned that memebership is dropping.

The new owner is actually a really cool guy if you take the time to talk with him. More dedicated than anyone I've ever seen in this industry. The leaking roof is an issue with the landlord, not the owner. Frogs is an icon has been there longer than any gym in Richmond Hill. I also get better results at this gym than anywhere else. He also saved everyone's membership and money so he's earned some respect in this industry for sure.

My favorite part of this gym is that on a rainy day you can always stand under one of the many holes in the ceiling and get a refreshing shower. Or better yet, if its a real hot day you can stand in the middle of the gym and feel like you're in a sauna due to the lack of air conditioning. What a deal, at other gyms you have to pay for use of the sauna's, at frogs you get it for free.

The new owner Dave is a great guy. He really takes the time to fix all the machines, and the broken mirrors all over the gym. The best part of the gym is the air circulation, the large holes in the screen doors really help bring fresh air into this fine establishment which is run by a great guy.

I have been member for 8 months. This is a good gym and everyone is very nice. They bill my credit card and no problems. I think people like to complain when they can not afford to pay. Everyone there is very nice and half the price of other gyms. I also have better results at frogs than other gyms. The ones that complain are the ones without money.

The customer service is absolutely horrible. I didnt want to renew my contract after the first year so i called and told them that. They said they would stop the payments. Its been 6 months and the payments keep coming. Iv argued with them multiple times and still no change finally i signed a paper with my bank that cut them off completely.

Once new ownership came in, one manager kept promising to cancel my membership per my contract and the other said they would not honor anyone's contract. For the past three months, the first manager has been telling me he'll stop billing me and will refund what he shouldn't have billed in the first place. Each new month, I get charged again and never refunded. My suggestion for any potential members DO NOT sign a contract with this gym, they will not honor client requests or concerns much less contracts and they lie in order to continue getting your money.

The previous owner wanted to retire so he let things go a little but it's a good club with low rates. It's also been around for 9 years unlike most other clubs that vanish over time. It's a good gym if you need to get in and out quickly and they have a huge parking lot. The staff are great and always helpful to me, so I don't know some people complain so much. For the price, it's the best place going.

First off the member are friendly? You havent come across most of us. They have the best prices because the only thing in the gym that is worth anything are the free weights and even those don't go heavy enough. The machines are another story, the cable machines, the hooks that attach the grips, most are broken. The grips themselves have been worn like in any good gym but haven't been replaced with a few essentials missing. The rock climbing machines that the girls below are raving about was broken for more than a year and was only fixed two weeks ago. In the mens changeroom/washroom, i have the suspicion that it gets cleaned once every two weeks and most of the time not very well than they blame the member for it. the plumbing sucks and needs to be fixed as can be heard from the front door when the center sink get turned on. I also don't like being told not to slam the weights together when it isn't really possible, you try putting down 500 pounds softly. One last thing, the three previous comments left seem to be the employees trying to glorify the place, don't get me wrong some of the employees are nice but generally i don't trust anyone that works there. The new owner seems a bit off as well, I wouldn't trust him if i were you.

I have been trying to cancel my contract for 6 weeks now but everytime I come in to give a letter the employees tell me that they dont know how to cancel it and that I have to come back. I finaly just placed a block on my account. Please dont sign up there they have the worse customer service I have ever come accross!!!
