Cost of membership: I was a student studying from Hong Kong, well it was reasonable enough for my family to approve on top of the already skyhigh fees that come along with studying away from home ;)
Pros: Close to the mall, close to my school where I used to study. Nice Japanese restaurant next door for a perfect post workout treat ;P But the gym I was there from 19961999 I think?! Can't remember, good times, but a blur... From what I remember, there was a good selection of free weights, cables and benches, and lots of room for body building and functional training. Cardio machines are on the same floor and sufficient stretching area (is it still under the big windows that was so nice)and best of all, I was only 16 when I joined and got heaps of encouragements from staff and the other members alike to prusuit my dreams in making a living in the gym industry. I developed my "instructor personality" there...learnt so much from everyone who shared so freely I miss everyone there...It's been over a decade since I've been to FC, but that's where it all started baby, I'll always cherish all my memories of that gym hope it's still there in a couple of years time, I'd definately love to visit. (though I doubt there's any one left who used to work there?! Is there?
Cons:There was carpet everywhere...not a huge fan of carpets, they're very difficult to clean so I always wondered...but wasn't bothered about it too much...They're instructors were quite outdated with their info and I didn't like that the baby area was right next to the aerobics floor poor kids having to suffer the loud music from the step classes...I wouldn't leave my kids there...love you guys but you need to build a better facility for the babies if it's still there.
Thoughts: This is not a flashy gym with expensive deco but if you're serious about training, they've got the iron if you have the will. An expensive gym membership's nice but once you get the sweat on, a rock or a $100,000.00 "bench/flex/bend/punch system" will give you the results IF you're putting your head into your work and really serious about doing "the business".
The best gym in the city is (and why): it was for me as it was the only one I could fit into my schedule and was so great in so many ways.
Anyone who was there during the time I trained there, and would like to get in touch, please email me at hardaway.dora@yahoo.com :)

Cost of membership: Too high
Pros:Equipment is okay and the classes are okay too
Cons:Staff is not friendly at all. Keep trying to sell stuff. All they do is try to sell sell sell.
Thoughts: The Staff is very very rude and all they do is try to sell you stuff. Cant stand it. Me and my girlfriends left for other options. One of my friends went to LA Fitness though there they hard sell too. My other friend went to SNAP and I went to a hybrid health and fitness clinic close by called Vicpark Health Clinic. Either way all of us found places where the staff was better than Fitness Connection. Seriously they are only friendly when they have to sell you stuff. Otherwise they are nasty.
The best gym in the city is (and why): Equipment and classes are okay though staff is so pushy with sales and is so rude go somewhere else.

Cost of membership: 32.77
Pros: Kind receptionists and great trainers
Cons: Awful customer service (apparently to them the customer is always wrong..)
Thoughts: I enjoyed this gym for a while, took some great classes but as soon as I wanted to cancel their poor customer service strategies became very clear.

this is gym is decent..i dont' understand why people want special treatment.. you go in there, pump iron and get the hell out..who needs all that extra crap. JUST MAKE SURE to prepay for the year with cash..ive done that with every gym ever since an old gym of mine tried to take money out after the contract ended
good gym though still

Cost of membership:$468.00
Pros:it's not crowded, it's clean, the staff is pretty cool, there's more than enough parking, my trainer is amazing (Alex), it's been in this community forever, feels homey
Cons:there's no pool or indoor track, and I'm hoping they put some mma classes on the aerobic schedule
Thoughts:
The best gym in the city is (and why): I wouldn't say that it's the best gym in the city, but it's certainly affordable, and convenient for me. My trainer kicks my a%# but I totally appreciate his efforts. He has already helped me to achieve my goals! I'm totally ready for summer!! Bring it on!! Thanks FC.

It's great, the staff are so friendly and funny, you feel good just being there. Lots of equipment available, very clean, changerooms, washrooms, showers. Lots of classes for getting in shape!

Coming from a fitness background, I can tell you that the staff at this gym are unprofessional, unreliable and far too young to effectively perform at a mature level. The gossip and giddiness is pathetic. Furthermore, the managers and staff often have relationships with the members highly UNPROFESSIONAL. Thank God the old assistant manager is gone from there! She was more interested in men than her job.

Saunas? Whirpools? Steam Rooms? Who cares about that crap? People go to gyms to get in shape, not lounge around and put their feet up! Friendly staff? I could care less if they knew my name!! They have great equipment and it's never too busy. Their cardio machines are fantastic and their free weights are all in good condition! It's a gym, not a spa!

DO NOT, I REPETE DO NOT sign up for this gym. I have never had so much trouble with people overbilling me in my life! From the first month I was billed they started by charging me for two memberships + a personal trainer!!! I am one person who did not request a trainer. I had to pay this bill every month for six months before the gym would finally look over my account and refund me. Everytime you cal and ask to speak to the manager he is either "in a meeting" or "out to lunch" obviously he gets alot of angry calls. After my membership expired and I had moved away from the are they still billed me and I again am having difficulty getting ahold of 'Steve" the manager.
Also the whirlpool promised with my membership was never filled once the whole time I went there also I was promised during my membership that when classes werenot in session I was able to use the dance studio as I am a dancer, shortley after starting there they told me this was no longer possible That was the main reason I signed up. The staff are friednly enough but you can tel it's forced, everytime you step in the door you are made to feel as though they are trying to sell you something. I requested 1 session with a personal trainer to teach me to use the equipment but was refused because they told me I wouldnt see any progress that way. I'm already fit, I was just looking to do some maintaince, I DO NOT need a personal trainer. I'm disgusted at all the money I wasted at this place. NEVER GO HERE.

I was at the location on Newkirk and they also tried to get me for $59.95 per month. They bad mouth the other clubs and are not respectful. Frogs down the street is nice, new and clean and they have tons of excellent equipment with no rubber dumbells and they're only $25.00 per month and they're not crowded. I would choose dealing with nice people instead and saving some money at the same time. I can also play a game of snooker there which is quite relaxing after a workout. I just don't like it when people say bad things about others when they don't know them.

I went to the new facility on Newkirk Road and they wanted $80.00 per month from me... are they insane? They try to get as much as they can from everyone and lie in the process by bad mouthing other clubs. I wouldn't give my money to people like this.

This place sucks. Not near enough equipment for the few locals that use it.And whta they have I am sure they got second hand somewhere. Thankful they have free weights!
Went into the steamroom this week and actually got SAND in my ass! What with that?
The management does not enforce their own policies in the gym,re: street clothes being worn in the gym, proper footwesr dropping of weights, carrying bags into gym while working out, you know all those dumb SAFTEY issues!
And apart from when they are taking your money, the staff are downright rude. Stay away, run, find another gym

Cost is amazing. Facility is very good. Good machines, especially the eliptical. Yes, can use an upgrade in the steam room. Yes, staff could be a little more professional. But overall a good QUALITY workout for a GREAT PRICE POINT. Lot's of space and lots of beautiful sunlight. I LOVE THE SPACE ON THE UPPER LEVEL. I LOVE THE SET UP OF THE GYM. They have Childcare, but hopefully they get some in the evening's as well.

Good staff, no where near enough parking. They tried to extort more money from me after i cancelled my membership even though i was paid in full. threatened my credit rating if i din't pay. DON'T pay them if you don't owe them if they try this on you. Keep your reciepts.

I switched after 7 years with Goodlife because they offered me a really good price but I am soooo sorry I did.... I Hat it I have seen bugs in the change rooms the lightening is awful I cant put makeup on. the dryer dont work and although I am there every day only One employee smiles and says hi to me in the morning. I have to request my towel each day. The sauna seldom works or is tuned off and the whirlpool I was told would be functional is being removed.... The upstairs smells bad. I hate it there...
