General Health | Started working out.. need more info

I have started working out and have
promised myself that this time i will not
let anything make me stop!
Have managed to to go 5-6 times /week for
the last 1 month.
I need to lose around 10 pounds.I am 132
pounds and 5'5", 27 years female.
I am going to the gym and am doing cardio
on a treadmil for 40 min along with strength training
My problem is that if i increase my speed
on the treadmil, to get my heart rate up, i get bad knee
pain. I can manage walking at 5.5km/hr, for 40 min without
pain. but that only gets my heart rate upto 128. is that enough to lose weight?
There is an elliptical trainer and a bycicle in the gym, wonder if that wud be
easy on the knees?
Since i have lots of time on hand and can easily devote an hour and a half 6 days a week towards
working out, how shud i split my weight training so that
i can do weights everday. how shud i combine muscle groups? IS It ok to work abs everday?
PLEASE ADVICE...any tips on how i can get these pounds off!

Bikes and elliptical machines are much easier on the knees. If you want to mix up walking and jogging on the treadmill (interval training), you will burn more calories than just straight walking. Try walking for 2 min and then jog for 1 then back to walk. DO this until you get to 1 min walk and 1 min jog.

Try doing your abdominal workouts every other day. They are a muscle and need to rest. Remember that gains are made during the rest period, not the working out period.

Many beginners who want to workout everyday enjoy a 2 day split routine. Here are a few suggestions.
-Upper body day followed by lower body day.
-Legs, Back, Triceps = Day 1 / Chest, Shoulders, Biceps = Day 2
