Weight & Fat Loss | Pilates

Can you describe some of the pilates exercises for me. I would like to start a pilates program without buying some of the marketing stuff that is out there.

I found the help above on this site in my search for more info on Pilates. It even has little clips showing the movements. The more I look into this though, I think I will take a class, at least to start. Funny how unsimple the simple stuff is!

I take a pilates class at my gym and really enjoy the workout. I don't break a sweat but my muscles are still hot later in the evening. The exercises are quite involved and require a fair amount of awareness of what muscles you are contracting. As much as you don't want to buy something, I really suggest you do because there are techniques and philosophies that you can't learn without an experienced guide and someone who is reminding you about your form during a pose. This may not be what you wanted to hear but trust me, its harder than it looks!

You'd be better off doing push-ups and sit-ups and chin-ups than bothering with any Pilates mumbo-jumbo.

What would you like explained? These exercises can be strung together to complete an entire program. Some are more advanced than others so do what you can.
