Body Building | How important is it to have a routine?

I'm 16, 5'8, and about 185 pounds right now, and pretty thick and strong for my age I go to the gym six days a week usually and do Chest/tris, then back/biceps, legs/shoulders, rest then repeat and throw in abs 4 times a week depending how i feel after my work out and do cardio 4-5 times a week to... My problem is when i go to the gym i don't really follow a routine at all, i just put out 2-3 sets for alot of different exercises and do 8-10 reps usually with heavy weight and i go till it's hard to take my shirt off afterwards haha...and my workouts are never really the same? every time i workout i just try to increase the weight a bit...is this bad for me? should i have a set routine? any tips or pointers would be much appreciated..as well as any routine suggestions...thanks :)

What you want to start doing is logging every aspect of your exercises if you want to see true and consistent gains this way if you reach a pleatu you can go bavk to the drawing broad, but to go back to .... first you must have one to go back too.

Routine is important because it helps you to know if what your doing is effective or not.Helps you get focused on your goals as well.

There's a rope training machine that will help you. It gives you strength and cardio workouts at the same time. This makes it easy to get good workouts without getting bored and it REALLY works.
Good luck!

I have this thing with routine, I stick to it for awhile and when I get I bored then that's when the problem comes in, as in I lose momentum.
So what I did, I have to do some changes with the regimen.
For example, this day I will do the stationary biking for 30 minutes, 15 minutes for the treadmill, 15 minutes for the the chest/ tris. The next day I will do more push ups, weight training.
What I'm saying here is, do a variety of exercise each day so that this way you are really enjoying what you are doing without feeling that you have to do this routine because you have, but you are doing it because you are enjoying it.
Try it man, alright?

i beg to differ! it's great that you do
not have a routine because the body adapts
to everything. now if you do the same
thing time and again, your workouts will
not be that effective. i hear it most of
the time, change your workout from time to
time. so keep doing what you are doing.

Well dear it's better if you follow proper
workout routine. Even i used to do
exercise to keep my body fit. I do
abworkouts 4 times a week with routine.
Proper routine will keep you fit and
healthy.
