Exercise Questions | Fatigue day after exercising

Hello to all. I am 63 and have been exercising frequently for many years. My weight is 68,5 kg and ht is 5.6. However, I slacked off exercising the last two years and I am trying to get back into a regular routine. I have been swimming almost every day. I began adding strength training last week but after the first two days of strength training I felt so tired I could hardly move. I only did 2 sets of 12, 2 upper body exercises and 2 lower body exercises. The second day I only did 2 sets of crunchies and 2 sets of back/posture exercises. Whatever made me feel so wiped out?

You may not be eating enough or perhaps the right kind of foods. When you exercise no matter what your age is if you dont supply your body with the nutrients it needs, then your body has no way of producing energy. Foods with simple carbs will break down fast and give your body instant energy, while foods with complex carbs will break down slowly, which does eventually provide your body with energy but it takes longer. Also time of day is important. If you exercise to late your body is drained from a day of work. If you exercise to early and dont eat the right breakfast your body doesnt have sufficient fuel to burn. I hope this helps good luck!!

Hello Marya,

I rested for a few days, tomorrow will try the
strength training again but will only do 1 set instead
of two. Will see how that goes. Maybe I was just
too ambitious. I'll let you know.

I also have done blood tests yearly and there is
nothing amiss!

This has happened to me several times before and
it is frustrating.

Best, cheryl
