Body Building | Deltoids

I am trying to build up my shoulder muscles right now. I've tried machines as well as dumbells. However, it seems that everytime i do it, my back or neck hurts and i am unable to perform my maximum capability. Thus, i dont feel like i was really working out my shoulder very well. Does anyone have any tips? Thanks

When I first started bodybuilding, my neck used to hurt and get fatigued when I trained my delts too. The worst was when I did front delt raises. Over time, I found that if I looked up (with my head, not my eyes), a lot of the tension would be taken off my neck.
