But skipping meals/starving is not a good option because it puts your body into starvation mode (= slowed metabolism, greater tendency to store fats, burning muscles as fuel etc.). Start by cutting off 500 calories from your daily intake and distribute it evenly throughout the day. Also, eat more frequently. Instead of 3 main meals a day, eat 6 meals (total amount of calories must still stay the same, or -500 that usual in your case). This will constantly give your body nutrition and energy so it does not starve for several hours between meals, and keep the metabolism fired up.

Walking is a good exercise and any good cardio workout will help but if you want to get rid of your love handles you will have to resign yourself to doing crunches and other exercise that target the waist, but and hips. It will bulge again if you stop because the muscle loses tone. just like in everything maintenance is the key. If you want a fast solution you might want to try lipo. ^_^ But then it will start accumulating fat again if you don't do anything to maintain your new body.
