Exercise Questions | Very overweight and wanting to start exercising

Hello. I am 28 years old, 5 foot 6 and 290 pounds. I am really wanting to try and get the weight off, but one of my problems is exercise. I simply have no stamina. I can jog for 2 minutes easier than stroll for 30 minutes. Obviously I have to start somewhere. I am on a sensible diet right now. What would you suggest to get started? I know it won't be easy but I am ready to take the plunge. If I can manage to walk for 10 minutes and did it 2-3 times a day would that be a good start? I am as out of shape as you can get and have some sciatica issues but otherwise I am doctor approved to exercise.
thank you,
Wendy

hi, yes that will be a great start! your mind setting to achieve something will lead you to more positive results. walking often and making it longer is good. but it should not be just walking but brisk walking. asking experts personally could guide you to have specific simple exercises where you could do to start loosing more weight.

The key is to find the right workout plans that are comfortable and challenging for you, stick with it, and it will be rewarding. Building lean muscle mass, burning excess calories and proper nutrition are the most important things you can do to attain a lean physique.

You should be spending at least 2 hours a day in the gym.

Just get in there and WORK IT.

Calla is right about moving around. Walk around as if there was a flame on your tail.

Another thing I would suggest doing, is watching documentaries. The ones that expose FDA approval. I you know what you're eating when you eat what most of society considers "healthy", you'd know that most of it ISN'T healthy. Research it. You'll find some really weird stuff that'll motivate you to change your diet.

Also watch inspirational videos. Like Still pumping by Arnold S… I can't spell his last name.

Keep us posted.

almost forgot. When you're looking at my sister's journal, inquire about the free 30 day challenge thing she's got going on. I haven't done it yet, but from what she said, she gives free consultations.

Good luck Wendy

Hi, I had forgotten about asking this to be honest. I suppose I should have let you know how I am doing! I did start exercising shortly after posting and have lost 20 pounds. I do have another question related to this issue in the workout talk section.

Swimming is a great idea for starters.
Since you are essentially working out
all parts of your body. I honestly
think that walking is the easy way to
go about your mission, but that’s
because I don’t know of any nearby
location with a pool open up late. I
started walking 1 mile 2-3 times a
week. I also bought these sneakers
with weights in the sole that help burn
more calories. Hope to hear about your
progress.

Wendy, Just start moving, sit less and move more, it start by just walking instead of driving, when you go to the store park far away from the door. Our bodies are meant to move, As you move the weight will start coming off.
