Nutrition | The ultimate one vitamins necessary vs unnecessary vitamin supplements

This article describes the importance of taking the correct vitamin supplements to meet the needs of your body as well as the benefits of vitamin supplements.

Why Take Vitamin Supplements

When you go to your local pharmacy of the pharmaceutical section of your grocery section, you won't see just one bottle of vitamins supplements or will you see an expired or dusty bottle there. What this means is that people are buying these on a regular basis. Regardless of what type of vitamin supplement you see, you'll find that many of them are quite expensive. It has been proven that taking a vitamin supplement is very beneficial to our health. Some take them because they've been advised by their doctor while others take vitamin supplements because they've heard of the benefits to their health.

Choosing the Correct Vitamin Supplements

Vitamin supplements are recommended by different people for different reasons. Physicians will often recommend vitamin supplements for their patients. Dietitians often recommend many of their patients take vitamin supplements to ensure their bodies are getting the required vitamins and minerals while they are dieting. In most cases, the professionals will recommend the type of vitamin supplement that has everything in one tablet to be taken once a day. In many cases, it's called "One a Day". Often, a doctor or professional will recommend a specific type of vitamin supplement if the need arises. For instance, if a patient is thin, run down and tired a lot, the doctor may recommend a vitamin supplement in the Vitamin B family such as Vitamin B6 or B12.

Benefits of Vitamin Supplements

Most of us grew up hearing the words "take your vitamins" and years later, we are telling our children the same thing. They probably don't understand the importance of taking vitamins and vitamin supplements just as we didn't understand as children. When vitamin supplements are recommended by a doctor, they are recommended for a reason. In most cases, it's because the person is not eating properly and, therefore, not getting the required vitamins and minerals needed for healthy growth. Vitamin supplements are a way to "fill in the blanks" by making up for the deficiency in their diets.

Vitamin supplements, specifically multivitamins, have many benefits for the body. Although they are not designed to be taken in place of good eating, they can supplement the body with what it needs. Multiple vitamins have a little of everything in them and can't hurt the body. This is why they are recommended for all ages, even if you eat a balanced diet. If specific vitamin supplements are recommended by your doctor, it's usually as a result of an exam or test taken. Certain vitamins are for healthy skin, some are to build our bodies up your doctor will base his recommendations on your overall condition.
