Exercise Questions | Low back


My low back is killing me, what excercises can i do to minimize the pain or get my low back stronger?

If you would like to minimize the pain, I recommend stretching. Typically lower back pain is due to tight muscles. If you do sit for long periods of time during the day, it may be your iliopsoas muscle that is pulling on your back.

Try this stretch:

Lie on your back at the end of your bed or a table. Bring one of your legs to your chest while allowing the other leg to hang. Then do it on the other side. I suggest holding this for 30 - 60 secs and do this 3x a day.

REMEMBER: When stretching your muscles need to be warm. Try doing this after a workout or after you've come out of a shower. In addition BREATHE deeply in and out into your diaphragm. (Breathing deeply is the bodies natural response to relax the muscles, which may lead to a further stretch.

Doing this while working out your core will benefit you greatly.
