Exercise Questions | Insanity

I am a 61 year old man. I used to be very sensitive to caffeine but then much of that went away. I have been doing the Insanity exercise program for the past two weeks. I am now getting heart palpitations, not during exercise, but later. I also seem to be more sensitive to cafeine. Is it the Insanity program causing this or is it the fact I am now in better shape and consequently more sensitive to caffeine?

I now do Insanity every other day (the month one exercises minus the recovery session) and the palpitations now have stopped even if I am drinking tea and a little coffee. At 62 I am just too old for Insanity every day. I also use an exercise heart monitor and slow down when the pulse gets to 140. My recent physical vitals were 112/70 and 65 pulse.

I think it is related to the caffeine but I will bring it up with my doctor.
I stopped drinking caffeine for two days and then did a session of Insanity. The next day I felt fine. The next night I did not exercise and then the following morning I drank green tea and now the palpitations are starting again.

Hi there,

I'll tell you right now that you should stop immediately and discuss this with your doctor. The Insanity program is VERY intense and while it's awesome to get your heart rate up and sweat, it's not good if you're having palpitations or other heart related issues. Stop now and figure it out..

I don't think caffeine is the direct cause of your palpitations but you should discuss this regardless with your doctor.
