Weight & Fat Loss | Gained it fast and now i can't seem to lose it!


i am a 20 year old girl, and i currently weigh 116 lbs. i'm 5'5 in height.
last year, around october, the parties lined up almost everyday, and as a result, i gained around 6-8 lbs. even before that, i guess i hadn't really kept track of what i was eating, as i was used to having a slim body and felt i could eat as much without gaining as much. however, i think the food binge was what did me in.
i used to have a totally flat stomach, and a 27inch waistline. now it's got a little bulge, and my waistline is now up to 28.5inches. my hips measure around 36.5inches.

i recently started working out on the crosstrainer, but i'm bad at endurance. i only manage 15minutes a day and try to do around 15crunches afterwards, and i'm slowly working that number up until i can manage around 90-100 a day. (since i read some advice that it's better to start at 10 and increase 1 per day to get to the bigger crunch numbers.)

so how should i set my goals? i want to get down to around 106lbs, but i don't know if this would actually really decrease my waistline. furthermore, i've tried eating less, as recommended, but not to the point that i would starve myself.

do you have any advice on what i could do about this and if i should make any more changes?
i used to never exercise but i feel its importance, specially since i have a slightly higher resting heart rate than normal, usually around the 120s. (this is also why i feel i cannot do more than 15minutes, because by then, my heart feels like it's about to explode.)

any advice/comments/suggestions would be appreciated. thank you so much.

thanks for all your help!=)

since i've begun, i can now do around 30minutes of cardio without collapsing. and i've begun working with weights, although only for about 5 minutes or so as i am still learning about different lifts and exercises.

It is recremended that you do your weights before your cardio. I would do sets of low weights and high reps to build up your tone without putting on too much muscle.

You should split your weight lifing over a period of three days. Hitting a different combonation of muscles each time so that you do not hit any given muscle too much.

On your cardio I think you should start out between 15-20 minutes a day to build up some endurance, and then to slowly start adding a few minutes to your cardio here and there. So that you can keep getting your heart stronger.

Ya eating a well balanced meal plan will get you a long ways. Just make sure that you are eating enough. It is said that if you do any hard diets over a period of time that you could slow down your metabolism.

i guess what i really need is a diet change to start eating more healthy as well.

the thing with weights is that i don't really know the recommended time to do them, and what types of weight exercises to do. would you,by any chance, have any suggestions?

so 15-20minutes for cardio is all right? thanks very much.

What you could do along with your cardio as you build up is that of a light resistance routine. It is good to incoperate weights because as you get toner your metabolism will also speed up. Thus making you burn more calories everyday.

Also is that of what you are eating, empty calories? What i mean by that is that if you are not eating the right foods you will not lose weight.

On some days you could also add some light interval training instead of heavy cardio. Going back and forth between them will help.

Just don't over do it from the start, because you might get burnt out and give up on your routine.

As you do more cardio your resting heart rate will get considerable slower.

Making your heart stronger is very important.
