Lets
clarify one thing: Supplements are SUPPLEMENTS!

Supplements should only be used if you cannot get enough
nutrients from your diet in general. Supplements are useful
for people suffering from certain disorders and cannot get
the nutrients they need from certain sources because it
also contains others. (ie. gluten)
Which ones are good for losing weight?
This is a very common question. Most of the weight loss
supplements out there have thermogenic effects, which means
that it heats up your body after you ingest it, which requires
calories to do it. As well, your body also needs calories
to cool yourself so, it uses up more calories during that
phase.
Tips:
- Do not try anything that adjusts your hormone levels (growth
hormone), thyroid (T2, T3, T4)) or testosterone levels (Andro,
clenbuterol etc.).
- Stay away from ephedra! - it has been known to
cause many heart problems in people.
In the archive section we talk
about these supplements.
You can also post a question in the weight loss forum to
the left.
Which ones are good for gaining weight (usually muscle)?
To gain weight is very simple, ingest more calories
that you burn.
Caloric balance = calorie intake - daily caloric expenditure
(RMR + exercise + etc.)
If you have a positive caloric balance you will then
gain weight. If you dont, you will lose weight.
